Our Approach
Hartman House provides a supportive recovery residence for men in need of structured living during their recovery process. We acknowledge there are multiple pathways to recovery depending on the individual and their history. We believe individuals have the power to affect personal change for themselves and those around them when they are part of a community with similar goals. At Hartman House we strive to accommodate individual needs by matching residents with housemates who share similar ages, interests and recovery objectives.
Our goal is to create and maintain a positive living environment that maximizes each resident’s potential for sustained recovery. Independent living is the goal for a majority of Hartman House residents. We want them to practice the healthy recovering habits they need while they’re here, so when they leave here they can be successful in maintaining sobriety and positive mental health.
How We Do It
Our primary goal at Hartman House is to provide a safe and supportive environment for men in early recovery. We are committed to maintaining a space where respect and positive interactions are paramount. Abusive language or actions are not tolerated from or towards any of our residents (refer to Hartman House policies and guidelines). We lead the industry by prioritizing the right fit for our community above filling every bed. We seek men who are dedicated to uplifting and supporting one another, creating a nurturing atmosphere that contrasts with the negativity often found in the outside world. Our focus is on fostering a community where everyone works together to build a foundation for lasting recovery.
Residents attend recovery meetings and receive comprehensive support from staff in their recovery planning and needed life skills. To ensure accountability and enhance support, we utilize a GPS-based application that allows residents to check into meetings, verifying their attendance and participation. This innovative approach helps us provide the best possible care and support for our residents’ recovery journeys.

A tribute to Our Founders
Jim and Rebecca Hartman
Jim and Rebecca Hartman founded Hartman House in 2007 with the vision of establishing a new and higher standard for male recovery residences in Delray Beach, Florida. At the time, the industry faced significant challenges. Through their dedication and collaboration with state and local authorities, the Delray Beach Drug Task Force, and as charter members of FARR, they played a critical role in eliminating unethical practices and bringing regulation to the recovery residence community.
Their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment have shaped some of the strongest programming and support systems in the recovery industry. Beginning with a single house in 2007, where Jim made the garage his office for two years, they built Hartman House into the premier recovery residence in the nation’s most densely populated recovery community.
After more than 15 years of devoted service to men and their families, Jim and Rebecca decided to pass the torch, entrusting us with their legacy. We are committed to upholding the high standards they established and will strive to make them proud as we continue their mission.
